Use of English practice
Free B2, C1 & C2 Use of English practice tests
Use of English is the language-in-use half of Cambridge Reading and Use of English. At B2 First (FCE), C1 Advanced (CAE) and C2 Proficiency (CPE), it trains collocations, function words, word formation, and paraphrase control under exam conditions.
This hub is organised by exam level first, then by part. Every interactive practice test includes instant scoring and review so you can fix patterns instead of only collecting random attempts. Free PDF packs are available for offline timed runs.
Start with the level you will sit. B2 First builds reliable upper-intermediate accuracy, C1 Advanced consolidates advanced control, and C2 Proficiency rewards finer lexical precision. All three routes stay free, with no account required to practise.
Choose your level
- B2 First Use of English
FCE Parts 1–4: multiple-choice cloze, open cloze, word formation, and key word transformation.
- C1 Advanced Use of English
CAE Parts 1–4: multiple choice cloze, open cloze, word formation, and key word transformation.
- C2 Proficiency Use of English
CPE Parts 1–4 with harder distractors, denser texts, and stricter transformation expectations.
How to practise effectively
- Practise one part at a time until scores stabilise, then run mixed Parts 1–4 for stamina.
- Log every miss as a pattern (collocation, preposition, negative prefix, inversion) and retest that pattern.
- Use free PDF packs when you need a quiet, timed paper; use interactive tests for fast feedback loops.
